Women often leave their lovers when they feel that they are no longer a priority. There’s nothing to make them feel truly “special”. Even women who think of themselves as realistic have been brainwashed by romance fantasies promoted by Hollywood, advertisers and the media. We think there’s no reason we can’t have it all. That doesn’t mean that we expect flowers and extravagant gifts every night when we get home from work. We want you to hit the mute button on the TV when we talk to you, not just nod and grunt. Most women need space to “debrief” the events of their day without feeling that you are automatically jump in with advice…or that we could get to the point a lot quicker. If we’ve gone to the trouble to make you a meal, you need to turn the television and your cell phone off. It really is the small gestures that matter. We want to be noticed and appreciated. While you might be smart enough to tell us automatically that we look “fine” in our jeans, you would be smarter if you actually looked at us before you said so.
